Green groups seek urgent river cleanup

Tough regulation and urgent action is needed on polluted rivers, conservation groups say.

The calls come after the Manawatu River rated as the most polluted of about 300 rivers and streams tested across the Western World.

Okay, I think this is disgusting coming from 'Clean, Green NZ' or whatever we try to promote.

Should farmers be allowed to 'run-off' their waste into rivers at the expense of our river-life, swimming holes etc...?

They are not allowed to, there are rules and regulations to cover this. Those that break them get done by D.O.C.

NZ only has a clean green image because of the low population. If we had the same population density as the UK we'd be filthy.

Especially the way the Farmers act.
