My friend has 5 kids.

Govt pays her $1,000 a fortnight in family tax benefits, her husband has an above average salary.

I get $700 a fortnight currently (inc. baby bonus), but it will be $300 in 3 more months.

I like having a government that encourages stay-at-home parents.

Australia does wealth distribution well (yes, because it benefits me), our taxes are high, but we usually get sizeable returns (couple of thousand last year) and families are looked after.

Fuck families.

I can't imagine what the govt. will offer me when hubby and I split. Everything is so different now. I was stunned by what I could get them to pay for back when I was on a DPB, but I'll be lucky to get a reasonable accommodation supplement.

Yep, she's a NZ Cit, living in Aus. We get less than Aussies because we don't have citizenship.

And that's why the migration to Aus will never stop, or at least it won't until NZ catches up with them, if ever. The piddly tax cuts that the govt has handed out will not make any difference to the average earner.

$1000 a fortnight for 5 kids still isn't worth it for me.

I'd rather have fewer and go back to work. Both for the cash, and the mental stimulation.

Must make too much.

Hubbys best friend only gets $80 for 2 kids because he's just over a certain amount. If he made $50 less a week he'd get $100 more.

I got nothing last year, joint income was just over the threshold. Our living costs are horrendous though. We are poor

Do my online shopping purchases = living costs? Because then mine are too. Should really disable my paypal account, would save so much money.

I save it until I get near shops, me and online shopping might be dangerous. I was having coffee at someones place the other day. They kept telling me all the great places they shop online and the 'bargains' they get. They are lovely but I really wanted to say pls, you are married to a doctor who probably gets salary + remote allowances. Give me a break.

Mind you, thank god for rich fishermen and ppl like that, we score some great toys from the dump!
