The thing that keeps conspiracies in a healthy abundance is that just some of them have an incy bit of truth in them - just enough to reward some into continuing belief.
Those that Psalter considers intellectually superior (and he himself ) may find one day that not every one of their beliefs was based on good science. Remember, there is not so much money available these days for pure research for the sake of knowledge, and much funding comes from sources with vested interests. Also, even with good data, there are many ways to present it, not all of them equally honest, and even the peer-review process is not always perfect at detecting poor use of statistics.
