My family is turning into a bunch of scummy thieves.

My sister texts me last night and asks whether I want to buy a stolen PSP... that she stole. My brother has jetted out on a loan of $4500 from a family friend, and to boot, he stole a laptop and some other shit from another person (who he owes money to) who put him up in her house.

Further, this same brother was fired from repco for light fingers and has left bad-debt everywhere.

2 years ago I told everyone that there was to be no more lending within the family... and I let this be known to family friends as well. I am the go-to-guy with family problems and now everyone is coming to me with these debts.

I am just sick of my family...

Oh, also, the same brother has knocked up his white-trash 17 y/o thieving mrs.

and he won't answer his phone.

Sometimes mate,you have to spray and walk away...Don't let them bring you down, they are all old enough and ugly enough to take care of their own shit...Do them a favour and step back....

If you want nice, say it's OK if they want to come over and talk about the weather. Otherwise don't burden yourself with their crap, the only thing you need to say if anyone comes to you with a problem is say to them sort it out with the person concerned, not you, because you are not responsible for anyone else's actions other than your own. If they are dumb enough to loan money or whatever to someone they should know won't pay up that's their fault and they should sort it out themselves with that person.

Correct, yet like most things... easier said than done.

I agree with the whole, leave them be until they sort their stuff out. Ackowledging them whilst they continue to do things like this sends the wrong message.

Well blood is blood. And it is hard when family behave like yours. You can still love them, just let them know they're dicks, they're not welcome whilst acting as such, and you're not going to bail them out. And Anjewels' suggestion is worthwhile, till they learn the errors of their ways.

I remember a few words of advice my Father gave my Brother, many years ago, when Bob was being a bit of a larikin. "Son, you'll get tired of paying, before they get tired of taking it off you." Took awhile, but it sunk in. Good luck.

Correct, yet like most things... easier said than done.

Maybe you've got to get a bit older (and more intolerant, like me) or maybe they haven't pushed hard enough that no more can be tolerated but just try saying no, not interested in those situations where it's causing a problem. Don't let it drag you down as well.

You would teach your future children the errors of their ways, why not your siblings...?...Until you step back and allow them to take the consequences, they will never learn because you are always there to bail them out...
