Do we care more for the rights of pigs than the rights of children?

Sometimes there isn't much at all....
Anyway, on to the subject, it does make you wonder. I think dealing with child abuse should be a primary objective, but attention to that seems to die down in between cases whereas I'd say arguably there is more attention overall to animal abuse, with TV programmes regularly featuring animal rescues etc making for more awareness.
Do you think these people know the difference between a dry sow crate and a farrowing crate? They are different, and knowing some people that do own rural land, they say a reasonable amount of the conditions pigs are kept in are misrepresented even though they support animal welfare and moves to change current farming systems. It's like on the show where the pigs start squealing, this was presented as suffering but actually this is more typical of the pigs associating humans with food and wanting to be fed.

I am an animal, give me money!
Jesus Christ wrote:A couple of weeks ago there were a couple of animal rights activists on campus, really mild mannered guys actually, handing out celebrity-endorsed pamphlets on the conditions that pigs live in. My response to them?
"Would it not be more efficient if we were to say...stack the pigs on top of one another?"
Their answer?
"Yes"
I then drew them a diagram and suggested they play Pass the Pigs. I was incredibly surprised they stuck around for me to do so. These pig activists have no gall.
