It was an attempt by SSB to hit back at Woody67 for her Akaroa Cliff Diving thread. He posted her photo.

21/05/2010 10:03:27 AM The problem with taking GST off food products like fruit, vegetables and meat is that the farmer needs to pay GST on stuff like feed, fertiliser, pesticides etc.
Do you take the GST off those too?
Then you have farm equipment and vehicles to consider.
Do you take the GST off those too?
If not, you are penalising the farmer unfairly.
The simple truth is, it's too complicated to take GST off food products without impacting in other areas.
This made my morning.

Why? Am I wrong?
No, it's not that clear cut, but that's my whole point.

Re: Quote of the Day
Farmers don't receive GST paid for goods. So it only is relevant to the consumer and the government.

I responded in SC and demonstrated how it is wrong.
Don't worry, heaps of people don't know about GST.
I bet if I asked in SC "you have just bought a pair of pants for $100 from Farmers, how much GST would you have paid?" most people would respond $12.50
Which is wrong.

The only thing that sucks about this GST change is that I have a whole unit devoted to GST and fractions.
Now it is void, it is no longer + 1/8 or 1/9
Sucks balls.
Divide by 6.6666 to find GST payable and divide by what to find GST content?
Now it is void, it is no longer + 1/8 or 1/9

the new calc is multiply by 3, divide by 23 (ie, 3/23)

Thanks... though it still sucks, 8ths and 9ths are reasonably common fractions... 23rds aren't.

Dream_Builder, "Open-mindedness - is being able to accept that one actually IS a retard."
By golly, D_B has to be about the most opened-minded individual in SC.
