For drawing useful conclusions it is good to ask the right questions.
In the whole 'motorcyclists and ACC levies increase' discussion, it is good that people are starting to talk about fault, and how sometimes it is car drivers that cause an accident even if it is the motorcyclist that gets the injury.
But we are still missing some information. In the bigger picture, if all motorcyclists (and cyclists) hopped in one car each, what would happen to the accident and injury rates then? Fuel consumption would go up (not so relevant to injury or ACC, but still a cost to measure), air quality and space on the road would go down, and traffic jams and travel times would probably be increased. I do not know what the effect on accident and injury would be, but I think it is something to consider before being too critical of cyclists and motorcyclists on the road. When they follow road rules and ride considerately, they are doing all of us a rather big favour!
